Physician Assistant

Position Summary:
The Physician Assistant practices in a supervised relationship with the supervising physician in order to maximize and extend the physician’s ability to manage patients from the new patient consultation to post-op management.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Perform initial patient consultations, history and physicals, and medical management for patients as a physician extender.
  2. Review charts for pertinent data.
  3. Perform patient rounds as an extension of the supervising physician.
  4. Perform pre and postoperative patient education.
  5. Will have call responsibilities, including any phone calls from the answering service.
  6. Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions.
  7. Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPPA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.
  8. Practice within limitations of scope of practice guidelines and the SC Board of Medical Examiners.

Position Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an accredited physician’s assistant program
  • Must also complete the NCCPA certification exam
  • SC Board of Medical Examiners License

Position Preferences:

  • NCCPA certification exam
  • SC Board of Medical Examiners License
  • Spine experience
